Ecomaine, Maine’s pioneer of single-sort recycling, is now processing the recycling and trash generated by Woolwich residents. That means the town and schools can also take advantage of ecomaine’s education and outreach programming to increase recycling rates even more, beginning with the Recycling Program Kick-off event Saturday, July 16.

The first 100 people to stop by the Woowich Community Center between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. will receive a free ecomaine recycling bin. Participating attendees will also have the option to enter hourly drawings for kitchen countertop compost bins and “I’m an ecomaineiac” t-shirts made from recycled PET plastic bottles. Answers to your questions about what can and can’t be recycled will also be readily available.

We have been impressed by Woolwich’s historic commitment to recycling right and to reducing the amount of waste generated in the town, and look forward to partnering with the community on continued waste-reduction efforts,” said Kevin Roche, Chief Executive Officer of ecomaine.

Ecomaine also invites residents of Woolwich to save the date of Sept. 24 for the annual Recycling Open House, an opportunity to tour the Recycling and Waste-to-Energy facilities, dispose of e-waste at no charge, and learn from a variety of like-minded waste-reduction companies in Maine.
