Woolwich voters will face a 39-article warrant at the annual town meeting at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 28 in the Woolwich Central School gymnasium.

The select board completed the warrant Tuesday evening. Town reports will be available shortly at the town office.

Article 33 to consider the discontinuation of  Town Landing Road and a one-lane bridge over Nequasset Book is expected to trigger the most discussion.

Many voters will be confused by the article’s purpose, Road Commissioner Jack Shaw warned the board. “It will be very important that people understand what they are being asked to vote on and why,” he said.

Chairman David King Sr. said he plans to offer an explanation before the article is opened for debate. The board also plans to prepare a fact sheet.

“We’ll do the best we can at explaining the options and why it’s being presented as it is,” commented Selectman Allison Hepler.

Code Enforcement Officer Bruce Engert said renovations are continuing at Montsweag Farm Restaurant under its new ownership. “I think people are going to be very happy after it reopens and they see all the work they’ve done inside,” he said.

The board appointed Leigh Callahan as an alternate member on the planning board and William Longley Jr. as interim Code Enforcement Officer for Engert who is taking a three-month leave of absence.

The board hired Corey Wallace of Bath for the summer mowing and maintenance of the Tanner Memorial. Wallace submitted the only bid, $900.

Selectmen Alan Greene and Jason Shaw were absent.
