OBITUARY

George N. Douin

 George N. Douin, 60, died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Augusta, Maine on Dec. 24, 1957, a son of Robert L. and Hermance (Godbout) Douin. He grew up in Starks and North Anson. He graduated from Carrabec High School in 1976. He entered the United States Navy, serving during Desert Storm and retiring after 22 years in 2000. He remained on the fleet reserve until 2009, completing 30 years in the Navy.

On Nov. 21, 1981 he married Terri-Lynn Brown. In 2000 he owned and operated with his son Matt, Wedgewood Landscaping Services, located in Washington State where they resided for 24 years. They moved to Wiscasset in May of 2018.

He was a strong man devoted to his family. Kindhearted, compassionate, witty, wise, handy, hardworking, and a friend to many. He loved the New England Patriots, hunting, fishing and Barbecue’s. He never turned down a game of horseshoes, pool, a beer, candy or ice cream. He skydived twice, one of which was with his son. He was always ready with a song or a joke. He loved all animals, even the “chicken” his daughter brought home one day.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Laurent and Roger Douin, two sisters, Gloria Hobert and Christine Nelson, mother in law, Kay Stuart.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Terri-Lynn Douin of Wiscasset, Maine; one daughter, Jessica (Jason) White of Bath, Maine, one son, Matt (Amanda) Douin of Lisbon Falls, Maine, two grandchildren, Sean White and Katarina Douin; one brother Joe (Sharon) Douin of Spring Hill, Florida; three sisters, Madeline Kaspick of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Connie Gilman and Jeannette Hilton, both of Norridgewock, Maine; father-in-law, Robert (Diane) Brown, in laws, Richard (Ying Ying) Brown and Scott (Heather) Brown all of Dresden, Maine; Tracey (Dan) Gysi of Gardiner, Maine,; Shelley (Chad) Lane of Sherman, Maine; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends..

A visiting hour will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A funeral service will follow at 2:15 p.m. with full military honors.
