ScarecrowFest 2023 is expecting a big turnout this year for the annual event to be held at the Wiscasset municipal building.

The business community and its associated partners are invited to participate in the scarecrow display contest. Decorate the scarecrow of your imagination, put it on display at your place of business or at the municipal building for a chance to win the People’s Choice award! Winner will be announced on Oct. 14, ScarecrowFest.

The Wiscasset Rec Scavenger Hunt will take place from Monday, Oct. 2 to Saturday, Oct. 30! Hints to find the hidden scarecrow can be found at the Wiscasset Rec Facebook page. When you find one, take a photo and send it via FB Messenger or email Lucy at loyster@wiscassetrec.com

Saturday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., many activities for kids will be available! Face painting, stories, games and scarecrow building, $5 to leave it, $10 to take it home; Maine Obsolete Auto League will showcase its vintage car collection; Touch-a-Truck, from noon to 3 p.m.; vendors and craft tables will have a variety of products for sale, so bring some green with you! The chamber is offering free coffee and there will be food and beverages for sale. A family movie will be available throughout the event.

THIS EVENT IS CANCELED....The Chili/Chowder/Pumpkin Dessert Challenge is certain to entice cooks and bakers of various genres to enter to win some coveted cash for their award-winning dish! Set up is at 10:30 a.m. in the selectmen’s meeting room, $20 per entry; utensils, napkins, bowls and plates will be provided; $5 to taste!
