Francis Patton Twinem Jr., known by family and friends as "Pat," died peacefully in Bradenton, Floridaon March 20, 2025, age 91.
Born Aug. 16, 1933 to parents Elizabeth and Francis Twinem. Pat grew up in Hackensack, New Jersey. He married Sally Jean Morse Twinem in 1955, married until Sally passed away in 2021. They met at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, and were extras in the film “Carousel” filmed in Boothbay Harbor. They spent much time sailing the harbor together. Pat was an avid sailor, spending many hours both sailboat racing and cruising the coast of Maine.
Pat graduated from Bowdon College, Brunswick, Maine in 1955 followed by entering the Naval Officers Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island, in 1956. This was his start to serving in the U.S. Navy, becoming a Lieutenant Commander until 1963. His final U.S. Navy role was Air Intelligence Officer. His naval career brought him and his family to Honolulu, Hawaii, Washington, Maryland, and Virginia. From there he continued in the Naval Reserve, working at the Pentagon. After leaving the Reserve, they moved to Carlisle, Massachusetts where Pat began a new business career at Merrill Lynch as an Investment Specialist. They then moved to Falmouth, Maine where Pat was the vice president-development officer at Northeast Bank of Westbrook.
Summers were always spent visiting their favorite spot, Boothbay Harbor, until they moved there, spending five years at McKown Point, West Boothbay Harbor. While there, Pat and his business partner, Tom Norton, owned and operated the Northeast Marine in East Boothbay.
Ready for the next adventure, Pat and Sally sold their home, bought a boat and continued their love of sailing, traveling up and down the east coast. They ventured north to St. John’s, Canada and south to Sarasota, Florida, deciding on permanently moving to Sarasota. Pat and Sally were involved with both the Longboat Key Club and Meadows Country Club. Pat also continued his sailing at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron with his son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Brenda. Pat and Sally continued spending every summer in Boothbay Harbor.
Pat was a husband, father, grandfather ("Granddad"), and great-grandfather. He showed his importance of family and value of hard work. Pat was generous and loved to make people smile. He was dedicated to his family.
Pat is survived by his three children, Bob Twinem (wife Brenda), Lisa Rosser (husband Rick) and Patti Koenig (husband John); as well eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
