Burst pipe temp-closes WCC’s Senior Center
Wiscasset Community Center was working to get the Senior Center ready for use again after a pipe burst over it, Parks and Recreation Director Duane Goud said June 25.
"We have had a pipe burst within the air conditioning unit that sits above the ceiling in the Senior Center," Goud said in response to email questions from Wiscasset Newspaper Thursday night.
"We were able to locate the leak and shut things down to prevent any further damage. The rest of the building itself is fine and is not in any need of having to close or shutdown. We have some water damage that is in need of repair. We are hoping to get the piping repaired tomorrow (Friday, June 26). We are hoping for a quick turnaround, getting things back to normal as soon as possible!"
Wiscasset Newspaper asked after seeing an email announcement from WCC management, informing users what activities were either canceled or moved. The email read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances our WCC Senior Center is unable to be used at this time.
"We are moving quickly to get this repaired, but as for tomorrow, Friday, June 26, we are moving Yoga (Friday morning 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.) to the WCC gymnasium. Pickleball is outside at WMHS (Wiscasset Middle High School) Tennis Courts; Sew and Chat is cancelled, tomorrow (Friday); Zumba Gold will be held in the WCC gymnasium (10 a.m-11 a.m.) We apologize for this inconvenience."
