Despite rain, farm days goes on

The threat of rain couldn’t stop almost 100 people from stopping by to see what’s “growing on” at Morris Farm Trust.

On Sunday, July 27, the Wiscasset-based Morris Farm was one of hundreds of Maine farms that opened its doors for the 25th annual Open Farm Days.

With the threat (and eventual fall) of rain, most visitors stuck with an earlier tour of the farm’s 40-plus acres, gardens and pasture for pigs, goats and sheep.

Farm camp leader Olivia Barber was on hand to show off the three sheep, two goats, two pigs and several chickens housed at the farm while Master Gardener Mary Bausch was present to give tours of the Margaret Ellis Community Gardeners and other gardens on the Gardiner Road property.

New this year was the farm store, which opened in June.
