From now through October 12, Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. During the rest of the year, it closes at 4 p.m.

According to Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “We find that customers enjoy the extra shopping hours when the days are longer. And we’re lucky that we have so many generous volunteers who are willing to donate their time to make this possible.”

The book shop, located at 17 Backstreet Landing in downtown Damariscotta, is a major source of funding for Skidompha Public Library, and every purchase supports the library’s collections and programs. The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers. All items sold in the shop are donated, including thousands of books in dozens of categories, as well as music CDs and records; movie DVDs; and games and puzzles. Donations are accepted whenever the shop is open.
