Learn about non-lethal management of beavers in Alna
The Town of Alna invites municipal officials, property owners, and interested community members to an information session on non-lethal beaver management on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m.
Hosted in collaboration with Skip Lisle, founder of Beaver Deceivers International and inventor of the Beaver Deceiver™, this session will showcase sustainable, cost-effective solutions for coexisting with local beaver populations and managing water flow without harming wildlife.
Beavers are nature's environmental engineers, creating essential habitats that support millions of species. The wetland ecosystems they build play a critical role in filtering water, preventing wildfires, and absorbing carbon from the atmosphere. As an extremely beneficial keystone species, there are immense advantages to learning how to cohabitate with and manage beaver populations while effectively keeping town roadways free of water.
Site visit location: Cross Road, Alna. Parking at the WW&F Railway parking lot. Special Activity: Attendees are invited to participate in a complementary train ride hosted by the W.W. & F. Railway after the information session, located directly across the street from the site.
All attendees are asked to register in advance by emailing 3rdselectmanalna@gmail.com
During the site visit on Cross Road, Skip Lisle will guide attendees through how these customized flow devices prevent flooding, protect road infrastructure, and preserve important wetland ecosystems. Participants can view all three site-specific installations in Alna.
