Lincoln County Historical Association announces fall 2026 Members Forum series
The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) has announced its fall 2026 series of online talks for members, featuring presentations on local art history, colonial land claims, and Maine’s musical traditions.
LCHA Members Forums connect members with presenters who have ties to the organization or whose topics explore subjects close to home. While the forums are designed as a special benefit of membership, the public is welcome to join LCHA and participate. Individual memberships begin at $25.
The fall 2026 Members Forum series features three presentations, each offering a fresh perspective on a distinctive aspect of Maine’s history and cultural heritage.
The series begins on Oct. 29 with The Historical Maps of Mildred G. Burrage, presented by esteemed Maine historian Earle G. Shettleworth Jr. The talk will explore the cartographic work of Mildred Burrage, the noted artist who founded the Lincoln County Historical Association.
On Nov. 5, forester, economist, and writer Lloyd Irland will turn the focus back to the colonial era to examine Sir Ferdinando Gorges, the Kennebec Proprietors, and the history of colonial land grant claims.
The series concludes on Nov. 12 with musician and educator Kelley Doore, who will explore the question, “What Are Maine’s Musical Traditions?” The presentation will examine the regional music traditions that have helped shape Maine’s cultural identity.
Each presentation brings an expert perspective to a distinctive facet of local history, offering members an opportunity to learn more about the people, events, and traditions that have shaped the region.
Participation is free, but registration is required. For more information and to register, visit www.lincolncountyhistory.org/events.
