Lincoln Theater is proud to present a special event broadcast from New York’s Metropolitan Opera, “Twenty Years of The Met in Cinemas.” The Met: Live in HD has been bringing the Metropolitan Opera’s world-class productions to audiences far beyond New York City for two decades and now the Met is celebrating this incredible achievement on the big screen, hosted by renowned soprano Renée Fleming, Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.

The anniversary broadcast looks back at some of the most unforgettable moments from the Met’s collection of more than 185 Live in HD performances, featuring extraordinary artists including Lise Davidsen, Natalie Dessay, Joyce DiDonato, Elīna Garanča, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Jonas Kaufmann, Peter Mattei, Nadine Sierra, and Fleming herself.

Whether you’ve been joining us for Met broadcasts for years or have never experienced opera on the big screen, this special presentation offers a chance to revisit some remarkable performances and celebrate the artists and productions that have made The Met: Live in HD such a beloved part of Lincoln Theater’s programming.

The anniversary celebration is also the perfect precursor to a new season of opera at Lincoln Theater. The 2026–27 Met Live in HD season brings eight live transmissions to the big screen, beginning Oct. 3 with Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” and continuing through June with Wagner’s “Parsifal.” Along the way, audiences can look forward to beloved works by Verdi, Saint-Saëns, Puccini, and Massenet, as well as three new Met productions: Verdi’s “Macbeth,” Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West,” and Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s “Silent Night.” And, Doctor Morton Achter will be returning for another season, providing pre-opera talks at three selected broadcasts. Tickets for “Twenty Years of The Met in Cinemas” are $25 for adults, $23 for Lincoln Theater members, and $5 for youth 18 and under, are available in advance at lincolntheater.org or at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime.
