Register for kids’ Creative Flow Circle May 19 at Merry Barn
On Sunday, May 19, kids ages 8-14, with or without their favorite adults, are invited to a special Creative Flow Circle at Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat. Morgan Mitchell, creatress and flowcilitator, and Stephanie McSherry, executive director of the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat, will guide kids in “moving color” to instrumental music, across a circle of easels.
Participants paint on each canvas around the circle, moving from one to the next as the music changes. There is no right or wrong way to do this; and no artistic skill is needed. Each participant adds to every piece without ownership or concern about the final product. It’s a process of joyful collective creativity, softening the inner critic. The creations are beyond imagination. With their openness and boundless creative energies, young people are the perfect participants for this exercise.
After we’ve made our unique marks on every canvas, we will break for a festive snack and conversation. We’ll then gather to look closely at and respond to our works of art. All materials are supplied.
This special Creative Flow will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Merry Barn, 417 River Road, Edgecomb. Cost is $30. Register at www.creativeflowcircles.com. For more information, stephaniemcsherry@merrybarn.com.
