Dear Editor:

Cameron Reny of Bristol, now running for her third term in the Maine Senate, was new to the state legislature when she was elected in 2022, but colleagues speak of her rapid growth into the role of effectively representing Lincoln County and advancing its interests.

After years of public service as a school counselor and advocate for her community, in the Senate Reny has played prominent roles on the important Senate Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, and the Marine Resources Committee, which serves the interests of working waterfronts and is known for its bipartisan nature.

She has advocated for numerous measures aimed at improving life for her constituents, and sponsored two bills that recently went into effect, one calling for assessment of strategies to reduce prescription drug costs, the other protecting mobile and manufactured home communities by making it harder for private equity firms to buy control of these communities and raise costs.

A year ago Reny was chosen to be a member of the Commission to Expand Access to Oral Health Care, an issue in which she has a strong interest. “It’s too hard to find a dentist here in Maine,” she has said. “Mainers deserve access to quality and affordable health and dental care. One of our state’s biggest challenges when it comes to dental care is the lack of dentists and oral health care professionals. I look forward to working with my fellow commission members to find solutions to increase the number of dentists here in Maine.”

In these and other ways Reny will continue to advocate for the interests of all citizens of Lincoln County.
