Courtesy of the Opera HouseAs a lead up to the 250th anniversary of the U.S., and in a spirited celebration to welcoming the Windjammer fleet to town, the Boothbay Harbor Opera House is pleased to announce that three music ensembles representing the United States Navy, will be performing free community concerts June 23 and 24.
On Tuesday, June 23, Navy Band Northeast returns to the historic Opera House with its 30-member wind and percussion Pops Ensemble, performing the show-stopping music of Broadway, as well as other selections from the American songbook and a number of patriotic classics. The concert is sponsored by the Opera House and presented free to all community members and visitors. Military veterans, and active service members, are particularly encouraged to attend and be recognized by the band. Doors for seating open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. All ages. Refreshments available for sale.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Opera House and co-sponsors Eastside Waterfront Park and Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library present two additional ensembles of professional Navy musicians performing open air concerts. The gleaming horns and great sound of the Navy’s Jack Tar Brass Band will bring their music to Eastside Waterfront Park, 68 Atlantic Ave., at noon. If the weather cooperates, the brass band, dressed in their Navy uniforms, will be performing as the Windjammer fleet begins to sail in behind the band! A great photo opportunity awaits.
The Navy’s visit to Boothbay Harbor continues with their Crosswinds Woodwind Ensemble performing on the lawn of the Memorial Library in downtown Boothbay Harbor, at 2 p.m. For both of these outdoor concerts, all are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the rain location for both of these concerts will be at the Opera House, 86 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.
No tickets or reservations are needed for any of these events, and all ages are encouraged to participate in celebration of both the 2026 Windjammer Days Festival and the upcoming 250th anniversary. If questions, contact the Opera House at 633-6855.
