This week at the Harbor Theater
"The Sheep Detectives" - (PG; 1 hour, 45 minutes) - When their shepherd George (Hugh Jackman) settles in each night to read aloud from his favorite detective novels, he never imagines his flock is hanging on every word. But when a mysterious incident unsettles the quiet rhythm of farm life, these unlikely listeners put their newfound knowledge to the test—taking the case into their own hooves. With curiosity, cleverness, and a surprisingly sharp eye for human behavior, the sheep set out to uncover the truth, proving that even the most unassuming among us can be extraordinary sleuths. The Sheep Detectives is a witty, feel-good mystery full of charm, humor, and heart—perfect for anyone who loves a good whodunit with an unexpected twist. Wednesday, June 3, 2 p.m. (OCAP); Thursday, June 4, 7 p.m.
"Tuner" - (R; 1 hour, 47 minutes) - In Academy Award-winning director Daniel Roher's first narrative feature, Leo Woodall (Niki White) stars as a gifted young piano tuner whose heightened sense of hearing draws the attention of criminals, who see his talents as useful for opening safes as well as for tuning Steinways. With his once-promising musical career over, he works across New York with his mentor Harry Horowitz (Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman), encountering a range of characters, including composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), with whom he forges an unexpected connection. Niki's safecracking work threatens his budding romance with Ruthie and pulls him into increasingly dangerous territory. Playing at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5; Saturday, June 6, Monday, June 8, Tuesday, June 9; and Thursday, June 11; see it at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 10 (OCAP).
“Roher’s winsome debut feels more like a throwback to well-written character-driven ’90s dramas like Good Will Hunting and Shine, or last year’s Thelma (which proves the endangered category ain’t dead yet).” – Peter Debruge, Variety
"Pressure" - (PG-13; 1 hour, 40 minutes) - Set during the tense 72 hours leading up to D-Day, pressure follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and meteorologist Captain James Stagg as they confront one of the most consequential decisions of World War II: launch the largest seaborne invasion in history, or delay the operation and risk catastrophic failure. Starring Brendan Fraser as Eisenhower alongside Andrew Scott and Kerry Condon, this gripping historical drama captures the immense pressure, uncertainty, and human stakes behind a pivotal moment in modern history. Set largely within a single war room, "Pressure" is an intense and compelling portrait of leadership, sacrifice, and the burden of impossible choices. Screens at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12; Saturday, June 13; Monday, June 15; Tuesday, June 16; Thursday, June 18; see it at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 17 (OCAP).
