WES students visit sugar house

Fourth-grade students from Wiscasset Elementary School visited the Marcoux Family Farm, LLC, last week to make connections to their study of the process of turning sap to syrup.
Bonnie Marcoux taught the students about all the learning, equipment and hard work that goes into making maple syrup.
The students toured the sugarbush, checked the lines, and then saw the lighting of the evaporator. They had questions, and Marcoux had answers. The fourth grade could have stayed all day to learn more. The sweetest part of the trip (beyond tasting the syrup) was connecting what students had already learned to what Marcoux was teaching them.
