Wiscasset voting: Moratoriums, school budget pass
Wiscasset voters Nov. 3 approved the school department's third try at a 2026-27 budget. In numbers received from the town, that vote ran 1,246-832 for the budget. Residents also passed a moratorium, or temporary ban, on data centers, 1,363-712; a moratorium on certain rent hikes at mobile home parks, 1,249-784; a fire department cost recovery ordinance, 1,282-718; and, 1,100-756, and an ordinance change officials said eliminates the ordinance review committee, shifting its work onto town staff.
The non-binding, or survey question, "Should Wiscasset explore the possibility of a single high school serving students from multiple area towns?" got 1,600 yes votes and 470 no's.
