The Sail, Power, and Steam Museum will host an Antiques Appraisal Day on Saturday, June 28, from 10am – 2pm at 75 Mechanic Street in Rockland, ME.
Appraisals will be conducted by Mark Sisco, of Sisco Antiques in St. George, ME, who has been in the antiques and arts business since graduating from college and moving to Maine. With a career spanning over 50 years, he’s bought and sold millions of dollars worth of antiques and art of all kinds. He’s authored articles in major trade papers in the industry, and he’s appraised close to 20,000 items with values ranging from $5 to $50,000,000.
“We thought that this would be a fun event for community members who missed a chance to bring an item to the recent local visit of Antiques Roadshow earlier this month,” said Executive Director, Robin McIntosh. “As a museum, we often have people coming to our doors with items that have been handed down through the generations, complete with stories of their ancestors, but they wonder if those items hold any monetary value.”
Appointments are not needed, and each person can bring up to two items that they must be able to carry themselves. There is a small cost of $10 per item. Money raised this day will support museum programs that fulfill their mission of celebrating, honoring, experiencing, and sharing the story of Maine’s maritime heritage.
