100+ Women Who Care has bigger goals
Dear Editor:
As a national model built on a simple but powerful idea—when women pool their resources, remarkable things happen—100+ Women Who Care has found an extraordinary home in Lincoln County.
Since launching our local chapter last fall, we have been moved by the generosity of this community. As volunteers, we felt strongly that Lincoln County deserved this kind of organization, and the response has exceeded our wildest hopes. Today, we are proud to count over 300 members.
In just a short time together, we have raised over $51,000 to support the nonprofits doing life-changing work across the county. Impact Donations have been awarded to Stepping Stone Housing, Boothbay Region Community Resource Council, and Hearty Roots. Additional donations have gone to Coastal Kids, the Waldo Theatre, Veterans Writing Project, Damariscotta Montessori School, and Veggies to Table. Beyond raising funds, we actively work to raise awareness of the important work happening throughout our communities—because across every one of these organizations, there are dedicated people showing up every day to increase services, access, and wellness in Lincoln County.
Looking ahead, we have set an ambitious goal: $100,000 raised for area nonprofits by the end of 2026. We believe we can get there—with your help.
Every new member brings us one step closer. Members commit to a $50 quarterly donation, and each quarter we gather to collectively select a recipient organization for our pooled funds. Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 7 at The Contented Sole in New Harbor from 5 to 7 p.m. Attending is not a requirement of membership, and we always welcome guests. None of this happens without our generous business sponsors, community partners, fiscal sponsor Twin Village Alliance, and our incredible membership. Together, we have helped families connect with transitional housing, supported addiction outreach, funded community rides and fuel assistance, and opened doors for young people to safe spaces and caring adults.
The impact is real. The need is great. And the generosity of this community continues to take our breath away. Thank you for making this possible—and joyful.
