35th anniversary plant sale for GCW
The Garden Club of Wiscasset will hold its annual plant sale on May 9, at the Municipal Building at the corner of routes One and 27 in Wiscasset from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
This year marks our 35th anniversary. Rain or shine, club members will be selling perennials and shrubs, including peonies and hybrid day lilies. The sale will include coffee, tea and a bake sale table with homemade goodies. It is a great opportunity to find that special something for Mother’s Day. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
The plant sale is the major fundraiser for the club supporting scholarships, grants and our community gardens. GCW provides two scholarships to high school students or graduates in Lincoln County pursuing a higher education in horticulture or related fields. We provide grants to local non-profit educational organizations for youth-oriented environmental and horticultural programs.
Club members maintain or help maintain gardens at Coastal Cancer Treatment Center in Bath, Pownalborough Courthouse Garden in Dresden and, in Wiscasset, the Nickels- Sortwell House Gardens, the Sunken Garden, and gardens at the Public Library and the Wiscasset triangles. For more information, call Lisa Freeman at 207-720-0801.
