Alfred J. Papineau

Alfred J. Papineau, 78, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, died Feb. 12, 2015 after a long battle with ALS.

Alfred grew up on Bassett Street in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and achieved top status of Eagle Scout in Troop 28, bringing the first in the 30-year history of scouting at St. Cecilia parish. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served his country by working on the U2 program. He then went to college and became a high school teacher for engine repair and related mathematics.

In 1995, he moved to the Florida Keys from his home in Boothbay Harbor, and taught boat engine repairs at Coral Shores High School in Tavenier, where he received great acclaim.

Throughout his life, he was successful in anything he did. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather, and always a dedicated teacher. He was dearly loved, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sonia Papineau, and children Kenneth Papineau, Patricia Gottlieb, John Papineau and Jorge Diaz. His grandchildren are Brian Papineau, Nathan Papineau, Benjamin Gottlieb and Kathryn Gottlieb. His parents were Alfred E. and Annette Papineau. He is also survived by his siblings, Anne Marie Kortnesky, Estelle Pelletier and Andre Papineau.
