A Boothbay Harbor woman currently on bail conditions for charges including illegal possession of a firearm or crossbow and aggravated trafficking has been rearrested.

Leslie Wedel, 44, of Boothbay Harbor, was arrested Jan. 23 by the Boothbay Harbor Police Department and charged with operating after suspension and violating the conditions of her release.

According to the arrest report, Boothbay Harbor Police Officer Scott Mercier was informed by fellow BHPD Officer Nick Upham that Wedel was allegedly driving on Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor.

Mercier ran a check and reportedly found that Wedel's license was suspended for failure to pay child support. After getting that information, Mercier allegedly saw Wedel enter a car and drive away.

Mercier pulled her over on Howard Street, and when doing a check through the bureau of motor vehicles, he reportedly found that she was out on bail conditions.

Wedel was arrested and charged with operating after suspension, a Class E crime, and Class E violating the conditions of her release. Both of those crimes are misdemeanors punishable by up to six months in prison and up to $1,000 in fines.

Wedel's bail conditions stipulate that she not commit any further criminal acts.

Wedel was originally arrested by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated Class A trafficking in scheduled drugs, Class C unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and Class C possession of a firearm by a prohibited person on Oct. 30 in Boothbay Harbor; she had previously been convicted of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs in 2008 in Bath.

Both Class A and Class C crimes are felonies; Class A carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine, while Class C crimes carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

Wedel's next appearance will be at Lincoln County District Court at 10:30 a.m. March 5.
