Ross Gaffney takes third in state track race walk
The Boothbay/Wiscasset boys track & field team finished 24th June 10 in the state Class C championship meet in Oakland. Boothbay/Wiscasset scored 10 points. Orono won the state team championship scoring 125 points. Runner-up George Stevens Academy scored 87, and third place Bangor Christian tallied 49.
Ross Gaffney was Boothbay/Wiscasset's top performer finishing third in the 1600M race walk. He posted a seven-minute, 45.37 second time. Orono's David Brewer won with 7:41.51.26.
In the 400M dash, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Isaac Fanslau finished 13th with a 56.06 second mark. Wyatt Richardson of GSA won with 52.79. In the 1600M run, Ethan Clark finished 16th with a five-minute, 8.77 second mark. Orono's Ben Arsenault won with 4:35.90. In the 3200M run, AJ Crocker finished 10th with a 10-minute, 35.13 second time. Arsenault won with 10:08.88.
In the 110M hurdles, Ben Gapski finished eighth with a 18.06 second mark. Winslow's Hassan Hobbi won with 15.15. In the 4x100M relay, the Boothbay/Wiscasset team finished 14th with a 49.59 time. GSA won with 45.66. In the 4x800, Boothbay/Wiscasset finished 10th in 9:30.73. Orono won in 8:40.35.
In the long jump, Gapski finished 11th with a 19-foot, 1.75-inch mark. Foxcroft Academy's Conner Donahue won with a 21-5.75 jump. In the triple jump, Gapski finished 11th with a 38-foot, 4.25-inch jump. Jonah Jenkins of Kents Hill won with 43-4. In the javelin, Aron Geddes finished 23rd with 112 feet, 1 inch. Winthrop's Jacob Feith won with 151-5.
