Boothbay/Wiscasset girls win MVC meet in Rumford
The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls' track and field team won a six-team meet in Rumford on May 19. Boothbay/Wiscasset scored 120 points. Second-place Spruce Mountain scored 111.5 points. Madison finished third with 98.
Rose Campbell led the team scoring individual victories in the 100M, 200M and discus. Olivia Rittall won the 400M. The 4X100M relay team was also victorious.
In the 100M, it was 1-2-3 for Boothbay/Wiscasset, as the team captured the top three spots. Campbell won with a 13.99 second mark. Rittal finished second with a 14.19 and Moriah Smith placed third with a 14.34. In the 200M, Campbell scored her second victory, running a 29.02 second time. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Sophia Gatnar finished fifth with a 31.78, as did teammate Raegen Eddy.
In the 400M, Rittall won with a one-minute, 4.95 second time. In the 800M, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Maggie McCarthy finished fourth with a three-minute, 29 second mark. Madison's Bryanna Hagopian won with a 2:37.36. In the 3200m, McCarthy finished second with a 15-minute, 25.8 second mark. Carrabec's Katie Scalese won with a 15:06.6.
In the 300M hurdles, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Maya Jacobs finished second with a 58.72 second time. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Avery Rice finished fourth with a 1:03.78. Lisbon/Oak Hill's Abygael Burch won with a 57.2. In the 4X100M relay, Boothbay/Wiscasset won with a 55.14 second time.
In the high jump, Rice finished second with a four-foot, four-inch mark. Spruce Mountain's Aisla Armandi won with a 4-06. In shot put, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Aryana Gray finished third with a 26-foot, 3-inch throw. Carrabec's Leeyah Nelson won with a 28-06. In discus, Campbell won with a 88-foot, 10-inch mark. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Zuriel Smith finished fourth with a 75-10.
The state meet is scheduled for June 5 or 6.
