Coach Nick Scott reported that AJ Crocker, Miles Hyson, Maggie McCarthy, Emma Scott, Caleb Bates and Kolton McKenney posted lifetime personal records at the Southern Maine Classic cross country race in Gorham Saturday, Sept. 12.

The 5000-meter boys and girls races were divided into two divisions – freshmen and sophomores and juniors and seniors. A total of 402 boys and 276 girls finished the races.

Winning for the junior/senior boys was senior Atticus Merriam of Scarborough High School with a time of 15:45.79. BRHS senior Crocker finished in a time of 17:39.64 for 36th place overall. Junior Louie Caidoc finished 113th overall with time of 19:10.76. Besides Hyson, a sophomore (21:54.91), Bates, a junior (30:08.15), and McKenney, a junior (26:28.63), other runners included John Cooper (soph, 21:47.76), Ben Gapski (junior, 23:45.47), Isaac Meyers (freshman, 29:08.58), Ryder Campbell (sophomore, 30:53.96) and Carson MacKusick (sophomore, 31:06.72).

For the girls, sophomore McCarthy finished 103rd overall with a time of 23:36.70. Former BRHS runner, senior Karen Higgins of Lincoln Academy, was the overall top finisher with a time of 18:07.04.

Freshman Scott finished with a time of 26:04.08 and sophomore Sammy Colby’s time was 33:34.17.

Coach Scott also congratulated Meyers, Campbell and Colby for competing in their first high school XC 5k race.

The following runners improved their times from last year’s race – Crocker, 37 seconds; Caidoc, 28 seconds and McCarthy, 3 minutes and 28 seconds.
