WMHS school nurse charged after school with OUI resigns
Sommer Maybee’s resignation as Wiscasset Middle High School’s school nurse has appeared on the agenda for the Tuesday, Oct. 13 school committee meeting. As Wiscasset Newspaper has reported, Wiscasset police arrested Maybee under the last name of Harding a half hour after she left the school Sept. 22.
Police said she was charged with operating under the influence Class D, and had a court date set for Nov. 12 in Wiscasset Unified Court. Within hours of her arrest, she left Two Bridges Regional in Wiscasset on $300 cash bail and was placed on paid administrative leave from her WMHS job.
The school committee’s meeting agenda was released Thursday night, Oct. 8. Tuesday’s meeting is at 6 p.m. in the WMHS library.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kim Andersson would not comment Thursday night on the status of an internal investigation that began after the alleged incident. Andersson also declined comment on Maybee’s resignation.
Wiscasset Newspaper also asked Andersson for Maybee’s letter of resignation. Andersson explained, “The personnel file and its contents are not public information.”
