Boothbay/Wiscasset girls win MVC meet
The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls' track and field team ran faster, threw farther and jumped higher than eight other Mountain Valley Conference teams April 28 in scoring a meet victory. The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls' team scored 157.33 points. Second place Lisbon/Oak Hill tallied 151.66 points, and third place Kents Hill recorded 126 points.
Boothbay/Wiscasset athletes won five events. Olivia Rittal won the 100M, 200M and 400M dashes. The 4X100 relay team of Rose Campbell, Rittall, Smith and Nerla LaVenture won their event with a 53.48 second time, Campbell also won the discuss with a 86-feet, 2-inch throw.
Rittall won the 100M dash in 13.38 seconds. Campbell finished second in 13.45. Moriah Smith finished fourth in 13.83.
In the 200M dash, Rittall won with a 28.29 second mark, Campbell finished second in 29.38 and Smith finished third in 29.49.
In the 400M, Rittal won again, with a one-minute and 5.72 second time. In the 3200M, Bryanna Hagopian of Kents Hill won with a 11-minute, 50.52 second mark. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Maggie McCarthy finished sixth with a 14.53 second time.
In the 300M hurdles, Blythe Denison of Kents Hill won with a 55.45 second time. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Avery Rice finished fifth in 1:05.43.
In the 3200M, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Maggie McCarthy finished sixth with a 14-minute, 53-second time. Bryanna Hagopian of Madison won in 11:50.52.
The 4X400M relay team finished second with a time of five minutes and 12.47 seconds. The relay team members are Raegan Eddy, Sophia Gatnar, Maya Jacobs and Sophia Mansfield. Kents Hill won in 5:02.22.
In the high jump, Kent Hills' Stefani Munoko won with a 4-foot, 8-inch mark. Boothbay/Wiscasset teammates Rice and Gabrielle Cassidy finished in a six-way tie for second place with a 4-04 jump.
In the long jump, Kent Hills' Gianni Meadows won with a 14-foot and 2-inch mark. Mansfield finished fifth with a 12-03 mark. In the triple jump, Moriah Smith finished sixth with a 29-foot mark. Lisbon/Oak Hill's Tayen Smith won with a 32-foot jump.
In the shot put, Zuriel Smith finished second with a 26-foot, 4.75-inch throw. Madison's Ava Landry won with a 26-07.5 foot-mark.
In the javelin, Zuriel Smith finished third with a 71-foot, six-inch mark. Ava Landry of Madison won with a 98-foot throw. Abby Orchard of Boothbay/Wiscasset finished sixth with a 58-2.
In the discus, three Boothbay/Wiscasset athletes finished in the top six. Campbell won. Zuriel Smith finished second with an 84-foot, 1-inch mark. Aryana Gray finished third with a 77-9.
In the triple jump, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Moriah Smith finished sixth with a 29-foot leap. Tayen Smith of Lisbon/Oak Hill won with a 32-0.5.
