Car-motorcycle crash in Wiscasset injures 3, 2 seriously
Saturday, Aug. 1 at 3:30.p.m., Wiscasset Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection on Gardiner Road and Fowle Hill Road.
John Breton, 54, of Lewiston was operating a 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Gardiner Road. Tina Breton, 53, of Lewiston was a passenger on the motorcycle.
John Webber, 65, of Oakland was operating a 2024 Nissan Versa also south on Gardiner Road. Rebecca Hamilton, 53, of Wiscasset was a passenger in the Nissan.
Webber’s vehicle was two vehicles in front of the motorcycle and was slowing in traffic to make a left turn onto Fowle Hill Road.
Witnesses reported that as the traffic was slowing, the motorcycle pulled out to pass the line of vehicles and struck the Nissan as it was making the left turn. Witnesses reported the Nissan had its left signal on before beginning the turn.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported by LifeFlight for serious injuries. Hamilton was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Because of the seriousness of injuries, accident reconstructionists from Lincoln and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Offices were called in to reconstruct the crash.
Wiscasset Police Department was assisted on scene by Wiscasset Fire and EMS, Woolwich Fire and EMS, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
