Coastal Rivers offers family program on fire building

Sun, 01/28/2024 - 8:45am

Knowing how to build a good fire, whether for camp cooking or for staying warm, can be a very useful skill. On Friday, Feb. 9 from 3 to 4 p.m., Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust is offering a free hands-on program for kids and their grown-ups on building a campfire at Coastal Rivers' Salt Bay Farm, 110 Belvedere Road, Damariscotta,

Participants will learn about three different types of campfires and what each one is most useful for. Each will build and light their own fire, while practicing fire safety, and enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows toasted over the flames.

Designed for ages 7-12, though all ages are welcome. Registration is required at coastalrivers.org/events.

Coastal Rivers is a non-profit, member-supported, nationally accredited land trust caring for the lands and waters of the Damariscotta-Pemaquid Region by conserving special places, protecting water quality, creating trails and public access, and deepening connections to nature through education programs. For more information, email info@coastalrivers.org or visit coastalrivers.org.
