Coastal Rivers offers native plant seed collection workshop
Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust is offering a free, hands-on native plant seed collection workshop on Oct. 29 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta.
This workshop is the first of a three-part series focused on native plant propagation, though attendance at all three is not required. Participants will learn how to identify native plants and harvest seeds responsibly to ensure wild plant populations remain healthy and sustainable. The collected seeds will directly support local habitat restoration efforts and help cultivate future native plantings across the region.
No prior experience is necessary to participate. Necessary tools will be provided on-site, though attendees are asked to bring their own work gloves.
Online registration is required in advance at coastalrivers.org/events. Future related workshops include Native Plant Seed Cleaning and Stratification on Jan. 14 and Native Plant Seedling Transplanting on June 10.
