Hall Funeral Homes to host educational Lunch & Learn on ‘What Happens After a Loss?’
Hall Funeral Homes & Crematory invites community members to attend an informative and educational Lunch & Learn event, “What Happens After a Loss? A Practical Guide to the First Steps,” on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Hall’s of Waldoboro, located at 949 Main Street.
The loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming experience, leaving families with questions about what happens next, who to contact, and what decisions need to be made. This no-cost event will provide practical guidance, answer common questions, and help individuals and families feel more informed and prepared when facing the loss of someone they love.
The presentation will feature four local professionals who will share their expertise on the different roles involved following a death:
· Chief Derek Booker, Waldoboro EMS, will discuss the role of emergency medical services and what families should expect when a death occurs.
· Chief John Lash, Waldoboro Police Department, will explain the role of law enforcement and circumstances in which police involvement may be necessary.
· Mike Hall, owner and president of Hall Funeral Homes & Crematory, will guide attendees through the funeral home's role, the first steps following a death, and the importance of planning ahead.
· Attorney Jeff LaCourse, who specializes in trusts, estates, and wills and is also a Certified Financial Planner, will provide insight into important legal and financial considerations surrounding the loss of a loved one.
Together, we will help clarify the process that follows a death, including the differences between an expected death (under hospice care) and an unexpected death, whom families should contact first, and how various professionals work together to assist grieving families.
The event will also emphasize the value of advance planning, helping individuals understand how making informed decisions ahead of time can ease the emotional and logistical burden placed on loved ones.
Hall Funeral Homes & Crematory is committed to providing compassionate care not only to the families we serve but also through community education and outreach. Our quarterly Lunch & Learn programs are designed to make conversations surrounding death, dying, and funeral planning more approachable while providing valuable information in a welcoming environment.
Lunch will be catered by the Day Boat Cafe. The event is free and open to the public.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by Friday, Nov. 13, to assist with meal planning; however, last-minute attendees are always welcome.
