Cynthia M. Crowell
Cynthia M. (Cochran) Crowell, 70, with her husband and sister by her side, passed away in North Port, Florida on June 9, 2025, following a courageous hard-fought battle with cancer.
Robert and Jeannine Cochran brought Cindy into the world on March 12, 1955, in Lewiston, Maine. Her life’s journey, by way of her father’s profession, took her and her family to Augusta, Boothbay Harbor and Winthrop. Years following her return to Winthrop, she met Barry Crowell and in 1996 they were united in marriage. They would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in October. Prior to their recent retirement, they sold their successful business and bought a lovely home in North Port, Florida to try their hand at becoming snowbirds. She considered herself very lucky to have experienced what it was like to be a snowbird, even if for only one winter.
Following her graduation from Boothbay Region High School in 1973, she immediately enlisted in the United State Air Force and proudly served her country from 1973-1979. After her years of service, her employment career included the VA Hospital at Togus, Central Maine Power Co., Law Office of Jim Harrington, and her final employment was spent alongside her husband Barry at Crowell Plumbing and Heating and Rt 202 Self Storage as Office Manager until her retirement. She grew to love her community and the people they served. Their customers would stop in on a regular basis just to say hi. People gravitated to Cindy as she was welcoming, kind, caring, informative and funny. She had a way of making you feel special. She loved her flowers and tending them, her many trips to Ocean Point, East Boothbay, to enjoy the sounds of the surf and take in the clean ocean air with her sister and best friend, Rhonda. She was a die-hard Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics fan. She loved reading, all genres of music, going to concerts, her “never a dull moment” trips to Foxwoods with her good friend Wanda and any spur of the moment activities she could conjure up at any given time.
Cindy loved entertaining at her and Barry’s lovely home and their camp on Maranacook Lake. Campfires were a common occurrence at camp with the best beverages, food, snacks and laughs with family and friends. The evening was often concluded with a peaceful boat cruise with the most beautiful sunsets. She also enjoyed being Captain of the boat and could often be seen cruising the lake with her girlfriends on a hot summer day. She loved what nature had to offer and lived in harmony with all of it. Cindy will surely be missed……
Cindy was predeceased by her parents Bob and Jeannine Cochran and her Golden Retrievers Molly, Nibbles and Lily Rose.
In addition to her husband Barry, Cindy is survived by her sisters Rhonda Gillespie and husband Rick, Jude Cummings and husband Mike, her brother Bobby Cochran, her sisters-in-law Lisa Crowell and companion Bill, Sheila Crowell and companion Bob. She is also survived by her nephews Casey Gillespie and wife Nicole, Corey Gillespie and wife Marianne, her nieces Lyndsay Cochran, Shannon Cote and husband Jason and Julie Anderson and husband Christopher. She is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews who she loved dearly. She asked that her close and dear friends Tammy Damren, Marcia and Allan Butterfield, Wanda and Don Lessard, Gerrard and Holly Labbe along with Peter Smith be acknowledged so they would know how much she loved them and cherished their friendship throughout the years.
