Edgecomb man changes plea to guilty and is convicted of murder
An Edgecomb man pleaded guilty March 10 to murdering a Virginia man in Edgecomb and hiding the victim's body inside a Schmid Preserve barrel. Luke Krott, 27, was sentenced to 30 years followed by four years' probation. He previously pled not guilty, but changed his plea during the hearing in Androscoggin County Superior Court, the Sun Journal reported.
On June 17, 2025, Krott was charged with murdering William "Nate" Robinson of Austinville, Virginia. Robinson's body was found Dec. 3, 2024 in Edgecomb, according to court records. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta determined Robinson died of a gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Following an investigation, detectives executed a search warrant on Dec. 12, 2025 at 57 Conant Road in Turner.
Police reported finding evidence linking Krott to the murder and issued an arrest warrant. According to the Maine State Police, Krott had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb. After the murder, he was found with assistance from San Diego Police Department’s Fugitive Task Force, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service on Jan. 6, 2025 on a sailboat in a San Diego marina.
