Elaine J. Fairweather

Elaine Joan Fairweather, 62, died peacefully on March 12, 2017 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. 

Elaine grew up in Roslindale, Massachusetts and graduated from Roslindale High School, Class of 1972. She attended the Art Institute of Boston for three years.  Elaine worked in several retail stores including Barnes & Noble, and Filene’s Basement.  She also worked at Stop N Shop in Edgartown, Massachusetts, and the Artful Hand Gallery in Boston.  When Elaine moved to Boothbay Harbor, she worked at Sherman’s Bookstore.

She was an avid reader, and belonged to many library book clubs. Elaine exhibited her art (contemporary artist) working with oil crayon.  She loved music, nature, the ocean, and animals, especially horses. She had a beloved Irish Wolfhound, Usa.

Elaine enjoyed people, engaging in conversation and was a compassionate caregiver. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Nancy Fairweather.

She is survived by her sister Karen and her husband Richard Rego of Boothbay Harbor; brothers, David and his wife Carol of Bellingham, Massachusetts and James Fairweather of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a service to Celebrate Elaine’s life on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church, Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, Massachusetts at a later date.
