What could possibly be better than a good summer Shakespeare production? An encore!

Back by popular demand, The River Company has partnered with both The Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro and the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta for a mini-tour of the extreme Shakespeare experience, ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged.”

“We are so incredibly lucky to be part of such a supportive and rich theater community,” River Company director Nick Azzaretti said recently, “The original production of the show this summer was a hit but it was a short run. In casual conversation with the other theater makers in the area we decided, hey, let’s give it another go and bring the show to even more audiences.”

At The Waldo, River Company is excited to be part of the theater’s Renaissance season, which has seen a revitalization of the historic playhouse through live music, film, educational events, dance, and of course live theater. See it at the Waldo Saturday, Sept. 17  at 7:30 p.m.

At the historic Lincoln Theater, River Company is delighted to collaborate with one of the area’s preeminent performance centers and offer another destination on the theater’s already busy road map of film and live events. Performance dates at the Lincoln are Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.

“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged),” covers not one, not two, but ALL 37 of the Bard’s plays in a cool 97 minutes.  The production is comprised of just three actors - Emily Sue Barker, Soren Barker, and Roosevelt Bishop, all hailing from Boothbay - who play over 100 characters as they weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, histories and tragedies.

In the expert hands of  preeminent director Nick Azzaretti, this production is an irreverent, fast-paced romp that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter.

Even if you’ve never liked Shakespeare, this production is something special, and a pure treat to watch. “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)’ was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield.

Performances at The Waldo Theatre are Sept. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. For more information and tickets: 207-975-6490 or https://waldotheatre.org/pages/theatre.
