What do Jimmy Stewart, Cary, Grant, Grace Kelly, and Janet Leigh have in common? They were all stars in some of best and most loved Alfred Hitchcock films of all time. The Harbor Theater is delighted to present its 2021-2022 Winter Classic Series, “Hitchcock’s Best.”

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. and continuing every first Thursday through March, we will feature five classic Hitchcock thrillers two starring Cary Grant: “North by Northwest” (Nov. 4) and “To Catch a Thief (Feb. 3); two starring Jimmy Stewart, “Rear Window” (Dec.2) and “Vertigo” (March 3). The series also includes the lesser known but equally provocative “Stranger on a Train” (Jan.6).  With Eva Marie Saint, Grace Kelly, and Kim Novak cast as their love interests, we are treated to some of the greatest screen couples (not to mention clothes) of those film decades. 

Each showing will begin with a very short introduction to the film by Special Events Committee Chair Marion Coleman on a few of its unique filmmaking, plot, and acting aspects as well as a heads up on special features to watch out for (but no spoilers). We will also provide fun trivia facts which we hope will provide a new watching experience (even if it is 4th or 10th time you have seen it!)

This year’s winter series, unlike earlier ones, will not be a subscription event but rather a single ticket purchase at the door for each movie.

So mark the first Thursday afternoon of the month for the next five months and plan on enjoying, or re-enjoying, one of the most brilliant and creative filmmakers of all times.
