I've got mine. My absentee ballot for the July14 election arrived on Saturday.
Included in the envelope, I found a Special Referendum Election Ballot which poses two questions.
Question 1 asks if you approve a bond issue to invest in high-speed internet infrastructure for non-served and under-served areas. Passage of this proposal will go a long way to level the playing field for people here in Maine. This is essential if we wish equal opportunities for all our citizens.
The second question regards a bond for the improvement of all of our transportation facilities. This is an economic and social imperative.
These are important issues, and if you are planning on voting absentee in this time of contagion considerations, now is the time to request your ballot if you haven't already done so.
You can do so by calling your town clerk, visiting your town office, or going to https://www.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl
