Help plan Wiscasset’s July 4 fete!

Community members are invited to assist with planning for Wiscasset’s Independence Day celebrations. Wiscasset’s July 4 Parade committee has adopted “America The Beautiful” as this year’s theme to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.
Individuals, businesses, groups and organizations are encouraged to participate. The committee will meet June 1 at 4 p.m. at Wiscasset Community Center. If you are interested in attending, please contact Duane Goud, dgoud@wiscassetrec.com
Floats, bands, civic and church groups, antique vehicle owners, horse riders and more are welcome to join in the July 4 fun. Prizes will be awarded. The parade will take place at 10 a.m., check-in will begin at 9 a.m. July 4 in the town office parking lot and lineup will be along Churchill Street. All floats and groups need to register by filling out an application at wiscassetme.myrec.com or by dropping off an application at the Community Center front desk by 12 p.m. Friday, July 3. Applications are available at the Wiscasset Town Office, the Community Center and the Wiscasset Chamber, 297 Bath Road.
After the parade, other traditions of the day include music on the waterfront and fireworks on the river at approximately 9:15 p.m.
