Alna had no contests on the ballot for town seats Friday, but more than two dozen write-in votes for Leslie Fossel had incumbent First Selectman Melissa Spinney keeping her seat by 20 votes. The vote ran 48-28.

“I’m glad my supporters came out and voted, but I wished they would’ve stayed home for their own safety. That’s what really matters right now,” Spinney said in a text reply Friday night.

Messages to Fossel were not  immediately returned Friday night.

In recent town email updates on the elections and Saturday’s annual town meeting, the board suggested few people turn out due to COVID-19.

Voters elected Douglas Morier to the Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit 12 board and kept Jeff Verney as road commissioner.

Town meeting is at 2 p.m. Saturday at the fire station.
