Judith W. Nichols, 81, of Pittston died Jan. 11, 2019 at the Lamp Alzheimer’s Residential Care in Lisbon.

She was born in Gardiner, Maine on Jan. 5, 1938, the daughter of Harold and Phyllis (Damon) Warren. She was educated in Pittston schools, and graduated from Gardiner High in 1956. She married soon after high school.

She and her husband were torn kicking and screaming from their native Maine for a 16-year odyssey in Massachusetts. Her husband’s work took her to Billerica where she raised three boys and honed her administrative skills as bookkeeper, executive assistant and realtor to the Arakalian Brothers’ many enterprises. Weekends, holidays and many summer vacations were spent in Maine “up ta camp” and on the farm. Beginning in 1977 she called many places home, including Alaska, Greece (traveling to Iran, Russia, Greece, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, and throughout Europe) northern Virginia, Texas and Hamden, Maine

In 1991 she moved to the newly renovated camp and embarked on a career of home health care service while virtually raising two of her grandchildren. Her 16 years as private home caregiver saw her supporting some of Maine’s finest families, even spending winters in Hawaii with the Putnams of Waterville

She enjoyed cooking for family and visitors from all over the United States who came to visit. She would spend three days cleaning for a day’s visit. She enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren and a good ice cream cone.

At 65 years old she decided to embark on a two-week backpack train trip through Europe with her grandson and granddaughter, and 10 days in Disney World for a gang of us. She enjoyed Disney World as much as any kid. She spent the last 10 years with her companion Merton (Larry) Larrabee cruising the Caribbean, Panama Canal and the North American Pacific Coast in winter and camping every other weekend in their 32-foot motor home with a large group of Maine couples.

She is survived by her long time companion, Larry Larrabee; sons, Stephen of Edgecomb, Jeffrey of Windsor, and Gregory (Jennifer) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her brothers, Melvin (Koby) Folsom and Stanley (Cheryl) of Pittston; sister, Roxanne (Phil) Hall of Scarborough; and her ex-husband, Terry Nichols of Nobleboro. She is further survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Janice Warren and Linda Lawrence, and brothers Robert and Harold.

At Judy’s request there will be no funeral. A celebration of life will be held at a later date (tentatively early July)
