Kandy L. (Fairfield) Ward, 57 of Wiscasset, died May 21, 2017 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born February 7, 1960 to Robert and Kathleen Fairfield. Kandy graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1978 and married Mark V. Ward Sr. in October of the same year. She worked for several area restaurants including Fairfield’s in Wiscasset, which was one of her family’s businesses. Kandy ran the local Meals on Wheels out of her home from 1998 to 2005.

Kandy loved spending warm summer days at their camp on Cooks Pond in Nobleboro. She also had a love for cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog.

She was predeceased by her mother, Kathleen and granddaughter, Sofia.

Kandy was a mother, grandmother, wife, sister and daughter. Her memory survives in her loving husband of 38 years Mark; two sons, Mark Ward Jr. and wife Molly of Brooks, Steven Ward Sr. and wife Sylviann of Newcastle; father and stepmother, Robert Fairfield and Charlotte Hagan of Woolwich; three brothers, Robert Fairfield Jr. and wife Mickey of Maryland, Gary Fairfield and wife Janet of Wiscasset and Peter and spouse Anu of Florida; grandchildren, Mark III and Zachary Ward of Brooks, Steven Jr., Matthew and Ava Ward of Newcastle, Kaitlyn, Evan and Isaac Black of Brooks, lots of in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins nieces, nephews and her four-legged companion, Buddy.

Burial will be at the Alna Cemetery in Alna at a later date. A celebration of her life will be held at the home of Steven and Sylviann Ward, 231 N Dyer Neck Rd.
