Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: Slippery roads and deer-related accidents
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 280 calls for service for the period of Jan. 6 to Jan. 13. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 427 calls for service.
Summonses
Donald C. Boyington II, 53, of Waldoboro was issued a summons Jan. 6 for Allowing Dog to be at Large (2 counts), on Waldoboro Road, Bremen, by Animal Control Officer Allen Oliver.
Kassan E. Germain, 35, of Dorchester Center, Massachusetts was issued a summons Jan. 10 for Operating Vehicle without a License, on Augusta Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Nathaniel Aronson.
Accidents
On Jan. 6, an accident occurred on Turner Road in Bremen involving Brandon Seavey, 28, of Damariscotta. Mr. Seavey was operating his 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound and was traveling too fast for the road conditions. As a result, he lost control on the snowy, slushy road and crossed the center, left the roadway on the opposite side, before hitting a tree. Detective Jared Mitkus was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 7, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Josani J. Farmer, 19, of Edgecomb. Mr. Farmer was operating his 2003 Cadillac Seville southbound when he ran off the roadway to the right, hit a fence and causing front end damage to his vehicle. Farmer stated he lost traction in the slush. It was determined that a bald tire likely contributed to the loss of traction and the accident. Deputy Jeffrey Rogers was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 7, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Deakon L. Wilson-Harrington, 22, of Edgecomb. Mr. Wilson-Harrington was operating his 2013 Cadillac CTS northbound when he lost control in the slush and slid off the roadway to the right. His vehicle then struck a snowbank, causing front passenger side corner damage. Deputy Jeffrey Rogers was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 7, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Beth M. McInnis, 56, of Wiscasset. Ms. McInnis was operating her 2013 Toyota Camry southbound when she lost control of her vehicle, entered the southbound ditch and struck a snow embankment. Sgt. Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 7, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Loring Proctor, 54, of Wiscasset. Mr. Proctor was operating his 2006 Int. Harvester/Navistar 7600 southbound when his brakes caught fire, disabling the vehicle. Deputy Jerold Winslow was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 8, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Whitefield involving Ryan K. Barnes, 36, of Augusta and Aydan W. Bauer-Day, 20, of North Turner. Mr. Bauer-Day was operating his 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan westbound when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the eastbound lane and struck Mr. Barnes’ 2012 Toyota Camry. Sgt. Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 8, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Brandon T. Saunders, 34, of Damariscotta. Mr. Saunders was operating his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle and was struck, causing front passenger side quarter panel damage. Deputy Jeffrey Rogers was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 10, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Ernest R. Almeida, 43, of Mercer. Mr. Almeida was operating his 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander northbound when a deer ran out into the road in front of his vehicle and was struck, causing front driver’s side damage. Sgt. Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 11, an accident occurred on Barters Island Road in Boothbay involving Gretchen Lauriat, 48, of Boothbay Harbor. Ms. Lauriat was operating her 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in reverse out of a driveway when she stepped out of her vehicle and failed to put her vehicle from the reverse position to the parked position. As a result, her vehicle rolled backwards across the roadway and then down into a parking lot, striking a fence before coming to a stop. Deputy Nathan Yeaton was the investigating officer.
