All current and former United States Marines and their families, as well as friends of the Marine Corps, are invited to help celebrate the 239th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps on Sunday, Nov. 9.

A cookout and short ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post 36 building on Industrial Park Road in Boothbay.

Dress is casual and there is no charge.

The event will include short film clips, door prizes and, of course, a birthday cake.
