Mary A. Whitney

Peacefully surrounded by her family, Mary A. Whitney passed away March 16, 2023 at her home in Boothbay at the age of 74.

Mary was born June 3, 1948, in Lincoln, Maine to Lillian Backus. She moved to Boothbay in 1996 and had been employed by the Boothbay Register and St Andrews Hospital before retiring and working part-time at the Boothbay Transfer Station Store. She settled down in Boothbay with her love and life partner Jameson "Jim" Brown who previously deceased her. She loved sitting in the kitchen of their home by the pond and watching the many birds who came to visit them. More than anything Mary loved being a Nana, her face would instantly light up anytime her grandchildren were with her.

Mary is survived by her daughter Michelle Plummer of Boothbay; son Michael Paquette of Asheville, North Carolina and her daughter Melanie and Ben Nelson of North Waterboro, Maine; her grandchildren Randall and Paige Chastain of Alta, California, Heidi and Barrett Fuller of Edgecomb, Nick and Alyssa Edwards of Westbrook, Meghan and Alexis Nelson of North Waterboro, Mason Paquette of Ashville, North Carolina and Phillip Paquette of Boothbay; her great-grandchildren, Kiah and Etta Chastain, Audrey and Nora Fuller, Leo Perkins; her brother Gary Bickford of Boothbay; and sister Sally Kelley of Essex Junction, Vermont.

A celebration of life will be on Saturday, April 1 at the American Legion Hall, 25 Industrial Park Road, Boothbay from 2 to 5 p.m. with a time of sharing at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Audubon society of your favorite charity.

Arrangments are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
