Nancy Hurst, 86, of Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully on May 27, 2020 after a brief illness.

She was born and raised on Southport, daughter of Leland and Lucy Snowman and older sister to Beverly, Sylvia, Linda and Gary. Nancy proudly carried on the family principles of hard work, quiet generosity, kindness and stubbornness! Always a wonderful Mother, Grammie and Great Grammie. She loved animals, cooking, gardening and reading. No one’s mac & cheese is any better!

Nancy worked for many years at the Department of Marine Resources in the water quality lab. Brought up in a fishing/lobstering family, being a good steward of the environment was always important throughout her life. Recycle, reuse and make do.

She is survived by sons, John and his wife Janice of Hallandale, Florida and Peter of Sawyer's Island; daughter, Lucy Barter and husband Greg; grandsons, David Barter of Boothbay Harbor, Tyler Barter and his wife Rachael and daughters Emilie and Abigail of Kennebunk. Her go-to gals Jill Perkins and Teresa Bryer.

She was predeceased by husband John Hurst Jr. and son Dan.

At her request, there will not be a service.
