National Day of Prayer May 7
I will be stepping onto an airplane on May 7, the National Day of Prayer. If you remember, please pray for me … and my wife, others on the plane, etc. for safe travels.
Just kidding? Not really. It seems the nightly news of late has been filled with incidents involving airplanes – in the sky and in airports.
I am not afraid to fly – it is my chosen mode of travel over great distances – but I do know some people who don’t like it. Some have even taken sedatives before they board an airplane. The turbulence (I forget what the pilots call it now but they use a softer term) is a bit worrisome and we’ve experienced some hard landings which felt like the airplane was going to split in two. But the time savings over driving is beneficial.
The airports are a different story. Sometimes you have to run to catch a connecting flight. Also, we’ve experienced lost luggage and nearly had to run to Walmart to get new clothes for a wedding! Airports are huge and I am glad we weren’t flying a month or so ago when the ticket lines were outside the terminal.
Back to the National Day of Prayer … I will be praying for a better world, a world without hate and that situations around the world will improve. I hope you pray for that, too. It’s worth the effort.
