Pemaquid Chapter, DAR welcomes new member, new officers and mourns member's passing
On May 8, the monthly meeting of Pemaquid Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution took place at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln Home in Newcastle. After the traditional DAR ritual was conducted, Regent Belknap asked for a minute of silence for Miriam Buckley who passed away on May 2. A new slate of chapter officers was elected as follows: Chapter Regent Audrey Miller, Vice Regent Barbara Belknap, Second Vice Regent Valerie Trentin, Chaplain Jessica Tukey, Treasurer Linda Wood, Registrar Jessica Tukey, Recording Secretary Valerie Trentin, Corresponding Secretary Sue Hochstein, Historian Nancy Chick, and Librarian Monica Tan
Chaplain Tukey conducted the welcome ceremony for new member Monica Tan. A light lunch was enjoyed by all.
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and honoring the patriots of all wars and especially those in the Revolutionary War. DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to the securing of the independence of the United States of America. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
