The WW&F Railway Museum will celebrate the Maine harvest season with its popular Pumpkin Pickin’ Train to SeaLyon Farm, operating Oct. 3, 12, 17 and 24. The family-friendly experience combines historic steam railroading, brilliant fall foliage, pumpkin picking and horse-drawn wagon rides for a distinctly Maine autumn adventure.

The journey begins at WW&F Railway Museum, 97 Cross Road in Alna, where passengers board a historic narrow gauge steam train for a trip through the forests and fields of the Sheepscot Valley. At Top of Mountain, passengers transfer to a wagon for the short ride to nearby SeaLyon Farm.

At the farm, visitors can head into the pumpkin patch to select a pumpkin to purchase and take home. Horse-drawn wagon rides are included with admission, and guests can enjoy games, seasonal food and the sights and atmosphere of a working Maine farm during the fall harvest season. Food, beverages, pumpkins and other farm offerings are available separately.

After their farm visit, passengers return by wagon to the railway and board the train for the steam-powered journey back to Sheepscot Station.

The Pumpkin Pickin’ Train has become one of WW&F’s signature autumn experiences, bringing together two Midcoast Maine attractions in a day that appeals to families, railroad enthusiasts and visitors looking for an unusual way to enjoy Maine’s fall colors.
