Obituary

Richard Blouin

Tue, 09/19/2023 - 11:00am

Richard “Rich” Blouin or “Blue” as many of his friends and family called him, 60, died unexpectedly in Boothbay on Sept. 16, 2023.  He was born and raised in Berlin, New Hampshire.  The youngest of eight children. He graduated from Berlin High School in the class of 1981 and was a star goalie for the Mountaineers.

He worked many jobs throughout his short life. He was lucky to be working in two jobs he loved. He enjoyed tending to those he served and working for at Harborview Management, and equally loved towing for Hawke Motors.

Rich jumped at long trip tows, and mastered winch outs in the trickiest spots and could unlock a car with eerily ease. Besides his work, he enjoyed traveling, RV trips, cruises and always making the adventure fun.  Rich had an infectious smile, and the kindest heart.  He was a proud Conservative Republican with a strong opinion. He was loved and will be missed by many. He married his wife Cheri and claimed her whole family as his, which they were. He would do anything for any of them, loved his stepson and claimed him as his own. He proudly loved the title of “Papa Rich,” which was given to him by his grandchildren. He was always happy and would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri; stepson, Steven Alexander and his wife Danielle; grandchildren, Matthew Reed and Marlena Alexander, all of Boothbay; seven siblings Jeanne Rouleau, Yvette Viger (Jerry), Anita Johnson (Bob), Leo Blouin ( Elaine), Roland Blouin, Louise Jutras and Linda Lavoie; and many nieces and nephews and extended family

He was predeceased by his parents Romeo and Rachel (Jacques) Blouin, and his maternal grandmother, Mary Goulette, who was a huge part of his upbringing.

A service to celebrate Rich’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2 at the Charles E. Sherman Jr. American Legion Post in Boothbay. A reception will follow at the Legion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boothbay Fire Department Equipment Fund, P.O. Box 304, Boothbay, ME 04537 or Midcoast Humane Society, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
