Thu, 09/10/2026 - 8:37am
The Railway Village Museum is proud to announce the launch of the organization’s new Marketing Intern Program – a hands-on learning opportunity for current college students to gain experience in communications, marketing, and fundraising.
This is an unpaid internship experience that is a for-credit and/or volunteer program only and will be hosted on site at the Railway Village Museum October 2026 through May 2027 (with some opportunity for remote work). Program team members will work 10-20 hours per week, must be in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree at an accredited university, and possess a strong desire to pursue a career in communications, marketing and/or fundraising.
Students participating in the program will assist in planning, writing and implementing successful communications to celebrate the museum and members, donors, and friends of the museum. Additionally, students will support content development for museum marketing and fundraising initiatives; annual giving campaigns; and member, donor and community engagement events, awards, celebrations and more. (Emphasis will be on donor impact stories, member stories, campus news and special events).
Guided by the Railway Village Museum’s mission, vision and values, the marketing and development team fosters lasting connections with individuals and organizations to fuel the museum’s goal to conserve, display and interpret artifacts, authentic period structures and technologies utilized in Maine during the historical period of the mid-19th through the mid-20th centuries. Aspiring to transform the way we view and relate to Maine’s rural past, the Railway Village Museum offers interactive visits, educational opportunities, and a variety of dynamic programs to enrich our daily lives—today and for generations to come.
Our centralized model includes marketing, communications, fundraising, community engagement, gift and data management, and event support. The museum’s fundraising efforts are enhanced by effective partnerships with the community as well as external audiences including corporations, foundations and friends.
